Congratulations goes to Gary D'Amico on being promoted to the Rank of Sandan. Gary showed through hard training all ranks can be achieved. I will set up some video for a better look at what his test looked like....Nice Work Gary!!
RENSHU / KEIKO
The word Renshu may be defined as training and Keiko as practice. Training may be thought of as the instruction received, which is then studied and practiced(Keiko). These terms are however are interchangeable. Renshu may be literally defined as "forging (or polishing) lessons", referring to hard, continuous work through repetition of the basics (Kihon) to sharpen technique, as opposed to merely learning new material. the word Keiko also implies a deeper significance. Keiko has come to express an attitude of learning by doing, a spirit whereby one attains character development as well as physical cultivation, and ultimately understanding and enlightenment (Satori), through mastery of one's chosen art by way of hard and constant effort, and that's why we practice OFTEN!

ORIME TADASHII: "Correctly Creased"
Orime Tadashii is a phrase that propounds the idea of presenting oneself properly in both appearance and conduct, both in and out of the Dojo. "Be careful with your thoughts because they can become words. Be careful with your words because they can become actions. Be careful with your actions because they can become habits. Be careful with your habits because they can become your character. Be careful with your character becuse it becomes your life."
Shuri Castle
The original Shurijo Castle is believed to have been constructed between the 13th and 14th centuries by King Satto of Urasoe Castle.
